Fragrance Echo

An experiment in translation. We invited participants to slow down and engage directly with materials, leaving screens behind to find the pulse of a process without an undo button. This session was facilitated with care by Samira Elbehairy, a SenseLab research assistant.

Workshop Setup
The Phone Basket Arrival
The Threshold

Arrival and the ritual of the phone basket. we begin by creating a quiet clearing, making space to stay entirely present with ourselves and one another.

Smell Station
Analyzing Scent
Stage 1: The Sensor

Inhale gently. Let the face remain still. here, we focused on the texture, weight, and density of a scent—finding words for the indescribable.

Writing Station Poetic Translation
Stage 2: The Translator

We moved from raw sensation to the written word. By reinterpreting sensory descriptions into lyrical verses, we sought the mood of a fragrance rather than its explanation.

Tactile Interpretation
Stage 3: The Interpreter

The breath of a poem becomes the weight of an object. We translated vibration and mood into tactile artifacts, letting our hands find form through clay, drawing, and sculpture.

Sculpting Form
Naming Station Branding
Stage 4: The Storyteller

Giving the evolution a name. In this final stage, we offered the sensory journey a narrative—a title and a phrase to hold its story.

Debrief Circle The Final Reveal
The Reveal

A closing circle to reflect. We looked for the moment where the distortion began, noticing how quickly meaning shifts as it passes from one body to the next.
